Roadtrip to Houston

So we are headed to Texas on Wednesday! I can not wait! This will be Harley's first time to Houston! This past weekend was dedicated to running errands and trying to get everything together for our trip. Saturday Brad had soccer games to referee so Harley and I were going to spend the day running errands...let's just say that she was not in the mood to be out and about, but luckily I did get most of the things done that I needed to! Yesterday we went to my Aunt and Uncle's house to celebrate one of our other Aunt's birthday. We had a great time visiting with one another! It is so nice to have some of our family close by to us. Today, Harley and I have stayed home all day trying to get laundry done, clean the house, and pack for our trip. Harley has so much stuff! I feel like I am having to pack everything we own for this little vacation! It is amazing! Even though the preparation is a lot of work, I am so glad we are able to go to Houston to spend the Easter holiday with our wonderful family!

Tomorrow Harley is going to have her picture with the Easter bunny! In the mean time....here is a picture of her from the other day to hold you over until then! ;)

Mississippi Mama

Brad and I have lived in Hattiesburg, Mississippi for about 2 1/2 years now. We moved here for Brad to get his PhD in polymer science at the University of Southern Mississippi. While we miss living in Texas, we were fortunate enough to be able to move to a town that I had lived in before when I was younger, and I have friends and family that live here as well. My family and I moved to Hattiesburg when I was in the first grade. When we did I met my precious friend, Elizabeth. We then moved from Hattiesburg to Houston when I was in the third grade but Elizabeth and I have remained best friends ever since. It did not matter how long we went without seeing each other, because whenever we did get back together we picked up right where we left off. When Brad found out that he was accepted into the graduate program at Southern Miss, I was so excited to once again be near my best friend! Elizabeth and her husband also have one daughter, named Ava, who is 18 months old. Since I have had Harley and become a stay at home Mom, Elizabeth and I have gotten to spend a lot of precious time together. Every Tuesday and Thursday we take Ava and Harley on a walk at the church, and every Wednesday we attend a women's Bible study together. I am so ready to move back to Texas and be closer to my parents and in laws, but I will miss being able to spend all of this quality time with my best friend.

Here is a picture of Ava and Harley together at the beach...I hope that they will be as good of friends as Elizabeth and I are.

Blogging

I have been thinking about starting a blog for a while now. I have not been too good about filling out Harley's babybook since she has been born, so I figured that blogging would be a good way to keep track of her and all the things she is doing! Right now our precious Harley Blair will be 12 weeks old tomorrow! I really can't believe it! I now know what everyone meant when they would tell me how much time really does fly! She went to the Doctor yesterday for the pediatrician to check out a few things, and she now weighs 10lbs 11oz! She is much bigger then that tiny little 4lb 5oz baby that we brought home from the hospital. As some of you know, Harley has a few hemangiomas on her body, which are pretty much strawberry birthmarks that will eventually go away with age. I had noticed a new one that had come up so I wanted her to see her Doctor just to make sure that it looked ok...He said that it looked fine and I just have to watch it to make sure it is not growing. I had also noticed that her chest looked pretty sunken in whenever she would breath while she was laying down, so I had the Doctor look at that as well. It turns out that she has Pectus Excavatum. This is basically a sunken chest. It is caused by the way her sternum and ribs grew together. There is really nothing to do about it, and the only problems she could have would be later on in life when she starts playing sports and doing other physical activities. Other than those few things, Harley is a perfectly healthy little girl! Brad and I are so extremely blessed! I do not know what I would do without this little girl in my life...she is my world!
